10 Ways To Make An Extra £1000 A Month

What would you do with an extra £1000 a month? For some it could be the difference between saving for their dream home, a holiday abroad or simply not having to worry about being in debt. For some it may seem impossible to make an extra £1000 a month on top of their wages or if you're a stay at home mum but it's definitely possible. Here are some ways that you could make an extra £1000 a month, whether that be by doing just one of the suggestions or putting a few of them into motion. 

1. Freelancing 

Are you a skilled artist, writer, proofreader, guest poster or virtual assistant? If so, then freelancing may be an option for you. As a freelancer you can get paid to help clients all around the world on your own work hours with your specialised skills. Some popular websites where you can freelance for extra money include Fiver, People Per Hour, Guru.com and Freelancer. It's really easy to sign up and start listing your skills and recieve job offers. How much you earn will completely depend on what the job is and how long it take to complete it. You won't get rich but it's a great little earner on top of your normal job if you have some spare time or it could be a great way to slowly transition from your day job to a full time freelancer if that is what you eventually wish to do. 

2. Mystery shopping

I love mystery shopping and not only is it a great way to boost your income, you can also get free meals or shopping out of it too which is great for cutting down on your grocery bills. MarketForce and GrassRoots are great companies to get started with and I'd also recommend signing up to The Mystery Dining Company. 

3. Babysitting

As a mum of two young children, I know just how hard it can be to find a good babysitter. I'm always seeing mums posting requests for babysitters for date nights on local Facebook groups as many don't have family and friends who they can rely on. Unless you're a registered babysitter it can be hard to pick up work, which is why it works best on referrals. If you do a good job for a couple of friends or families then you'll be more likely to get more work through word of mouth. How much you earn depends on your area and how long you'll be babysitting for but I know some people get paid £10-£15 an hour and sometimes even up to £20 for more children.

4. Dog walking

Many dog owners lead busy lives and usually work full time, some may not have time to walk their dog every morning before work and after work if they work late which is why many hire a dog walker. As a dog walker you could walk around 5 dogs at the same time, at £5-10 per dog you can see how easy it is to earn money dog walking. 

5. Mowing Lawns

Have a lawnmower sat in the shed or garage? Why not put it to good use and see if anyone in your neighbourhood needs their lawns mowing. Elderly people often can't do it themselves and would rather pay someone to do theirs. Print out some flyers and post them through the letterboxes in your area and see if you get any calls, if not then go round door to door on a sunny day and you'll be bound to get some people taking up on your offer!

6. Rent out a room in your house

It may be not the best option if you have a full house already or a large family but if you have a spare room in your house how about renting it out? 7. Get paid to review online

Sites such as Revooly allow you to purchase items from their wish list and review them with a percentage taken off the price of the product. From baby items to kitchen appliances there are many categories to review from. You could even review items you have previously purchased and receive a percentage. For example if you wanted to buy a Motorola video baby monitor Revooly are offering a 12% discount which will give you £10 off the total of £88.10 which is pretty good! You are given 14 days to complete a review so that's plenty of time to get a few reviews written up and receive some money back for reviewing your products!

8. Affiliate marketing

Have your own website/blog or a good social media following? You can earn some cash immediately by signing up to affiliate sites and promote their products and offers online. Amazon associates is a great affiliate programme to sign up to too as well as Affiliate Window. If you have a good following or readership then you will be likely to receive a steady income from affiliate sites. I know some people who make £50-£100 a month and others who make £500-£1000+. 

9. Uber driver

Do you have a car and some spare time? How about being an Uber driver? Being an Uber driver is a lot of fun with a lot of awesome benefits. You'll have a flexible schedules with no set hours and you can make money when you want. Simply turn on the app when you want to drive and turn it off when you're done. You can meet lots of people by being an Uber driver which is great if you're bored of being stuck in the house. The average driver in London makes £2000 a week working a 35-40 hour week so just imagine how much you could make doing 15 hours a week in your spare time! The only requirements are that you're at least 21 years old, have a clean driving record and need to pass a background check. 

10. Offer a service in your local area

There are various services you could offer in your local area such as:

• Car washing and valeting
• House cleaning 
• Dog sitting
• Ironing/laundry services

Depending on where you live a reasonably-prised house cleaner can be difficult to find. If you have free time on your hands why don't you offer up your services and clean someone's home or car, do their laundry or even watch their dog whilst they're on holiday. You can charge anywhere between £10-20 a hour for cleaning someones home, about £5-10 for doing someones ironing and £5 for washing cars. Try and beat or match competitor prices in the area and get word of mouth around by printing out some flyers or business cards.
